Sharp does not play any disc I've thwrown in. Absolutely no one. It's a bad player for people that do not have only originals.

I believe the replication site puts in the key, but I would call them and see what they require. I'm not too involved with the delivery process, so I could be wrong.

Anyone else know for sure?

Hey Rey, you're site is really the best! I was wondering if you, or anyone for that matter, had any tips on what's needed for final output for replication.

Does the author add the AACS keys, or does the plant, and what's required for output.

Any assistance from you or anyone else would be appreciated.

As I understand it, Blu-ray is very sensitive to copy protection. I think when the copy permission flag is set to 3, it inserts something into each m2ts stream that says the video SHOULD have some sort of protection. When this is burned and played on the PS3, the player knows it's on a burned disc, sees the streams should have copy protection, doesn't see the AACS (because it's burned, not replicated) and won't play it.

I'm not sure about profile 1.0 players. We have a sharp player and can't get anything working on it even though in the manual it says BD-R/BD-RE discs work. So I don't know. I wish it made more sense, but this stuff is still a little new.

We should be getting a pressed check disc for a project soon, so we'll try that one out with all our copy protection and everything and hope that this works once we have a replicated disc.

Can you provide any insight why some players play
BD-R/RE and some don't? I understand, in Scenarist,
you need to go into an XML file to disable the copy
protection permissions before burning a disc. I'm
still confused why turning "off" AACS permissions
would give you a working disc. I've also hear some
delete the AACS file completely...why?

Do Profile 1.0 player just, flat out, do not play
BD-R/RE? Do some players require a AACS folder and
some don't? Do the permission need to be disabled for
playback and why?

Just trying to pin point all the issues involved with
BD-R/RE player compatibility.
